Investigation of news about ''Corona Virus'' in digital newspapers in the context of critical health literacy

In the world order, which is in constant development, digital newspapers have come to a position to leave traditional newspapers in the background within their possibilities and have the potential to include many issues related to health. In this direction, in the study, digital newspapers are handled as a media tool that can contribute to the development of critical health literacy skills of the individual. In this context, in this study, the COVID-19 themed news within the scope of critical health literacy published by Hürriyet, Sözcü and Yeni Şafak digital newspapers since the COVID-19 case in Turkey on March 11, 2020; It is examined whether it has an impact on the development of critical health literacy skills of the individual, who is seen as a way of salvation from the pandemic with the least damage. According to the findings of the study, the news of digital newspapers, which have the quality of informing the society about the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes and developments in health services and policies in this process, has an important position in critical health literacy; In addition to determining that the development of health knowledge supports the development of the skills of being conscious and having information about the developments in public health, it is in the background to contribute to the development of the skills of raising awareness of the social determinants of health, approaching health information with a critical perspective and forming a critical perspective found to remain.
