This article, which examines the effects of technological advances on the media by considering the transformation in the media field from a historical perspective, offers a framework to understand how the technological developments that enable the evolution of communication tools transform the media. In this context, the focus of the article is on important technological developments that affect the development and transformation of media. Developments that contributed to the transformation of the communication environment and the change in media consumption from different perspectives include the invention of writing, the invention of the printing press, telegraph, telephone, photography, cinema, radio, television, computer and internet. Emphasizing that there are some historical continuities between old and new media, the study analyzes the transformation of media throughout history in the context of technological developments and discusses the developments that laid the foundation of today's media environment.
