Purpose: The aim of the study is to determine how the Turkish modernization process is reflected in daily life through consumption patterns. Analysis of print media advertisements in 1933 and advertisements in 2022 will show what changes have occurred in daily life through consumption habits. Method: The research question of the study is how the Turkish modernization process is reflected in daily life through consumption patterns. In order to reveal this answer, a comparative analysis of daily life practices will be carried out on the consumption aspect. The headlines and texts in the advertisements of the two newspapers with the highest circulation in 1932 and 2022 will be examined with the critical discourse analysis method. Findings: In the study, advertisements in Akşam and Cumhuriyet newspapers with the highest circulation in 1933 and in Sabah and Hürriyet newspapers with the highest circulation in 2022 were examined using Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis method. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the Turkish modernization process was reflected in daily life through consumption patterns. Conclusion: In the study, it is seen that the most similar area between the Early Republican Period and today's print media advertisements is bank advertisements in both periods due to the economic crises. Additionally, the idea of saving money through advertisements is at the forefront. Another similar issue is praising the use of cutting-edge technology. The most obvious difference is the Western perception. Originality: The inadequacy of studies relating the Turkish modernization process to consumption habits and daily life is due to the originality of the subject.
