Local media is an important tool for small segments of society. Where the national media cannot reach, local media organs inform the society they are in and ensure that they are aware of what is going on. However, the biggest problem of the local media is the resource constraints in the economic sense. Due to its domain covering a limited region, advertising revenues are insufficient to cover expenses. The interview with the executives of İçel TV and Kanal 33 broadcasting in Mersin, which was examined within the scope of the study, reveals the magnitude of the economic distress. It is stated that the local and general government should support the local media to overcome this economic difficulty, otherwise the local media will not be able to continue its duty.
